The Besom in York…sweeping away suffering
Since January 2008 we’ve been involved with Besom as part of our outreach in to the local community here in York. The Besom exists to form a bridge between a church and its community. It takes that which someone wants to give, whether it is time, money or things , and finds someone who genuinely needs it.
The emphasis is on making it easy for people to give, taking what they have to offer and matching that to any need that is identified by social workers/ health professionals
So far we have done many projects including painting and decorating several rooms for a single Dad, several gardening projects and more recently cleaning up a ladys flat to get it ready for decorating. It is an amazing opportunity to bless people in need.
“We painted two bedrooms for a family in our local area, which was an absolutely heartbreaking thing to see. Being able to see the poverty that is so close on was really hard. I am very grateful to the team who helped fix up our home.”
