We have excellent relationships with the churches in York. This provides lots of opportunities to serve them by helping with youth and childrens work both through Sunday School programs and after school clubs and youth groups.
In 2012 we are part of an exciting movement called HOPE Invasion. The vision is to see every 11-14 year old in York hear the message of Jesus and have an opportunity to respond to it.
The plan for HOPE Invasion involves 5 stages…
1. Preparing young people for evangelism over the next 6 months.
2. i) Mission Weeks in secondary schools during the weeks commencing 19th and 26th March 2012. This will involve schools bands from the Message Trust, RS lessons, assemblies and lunch time gigs.
ii) Street evangelism during the school Easter holidays – equipping young people to reach their peers with creative evangelism from 2-4th April.
3. A free concert for young people in the Museum Gardens on 4th April featuring live bands, a gospel message and mini-festival (games, food, activities, prayer space etc)
4. Youth alpha courses across the city during Summer Term 2012 and a joined-up alpha weekend away that doubles up as UNITEfest 2012.
5. Integrating young people into existing churches, youth groups and school-based groups for further discipleship and encouragement in their relationship with God.
