WELC

We recently got back from the western European leadership consultation in Dublin, Ireland. It was a great few days of teaching, worship, seminars and networking with about 200 leaders young and old from across Western Europe. It is so encouraging to heard the huge spectrum of things that God  is doing and the ministries that people are running, from Hip Hop on the streets of Lyon, France to Work amongst prostitutes in Liverpool. The thing that stood out to me most was the huge potential we have as a multi generational, cross cultural  movement of people to see love and life brought to so many people and the challenge was to be thinking through how we can build on and multiply all the great things that are going on.

Wales and Ireland? Yes Please!

Here in YWAM York we value different nations and different cultures and a great way to start the new year is to connect with some different countries around us. We have some really exciting opportunities coming up that we’re going to be a part of in the countries of Ireland and Wales. In March we’re going to Dublin for a week to join in the WELC (Western European Leadership Consultation). We were in Delden, Holland in 2008 and it was a great time of sharing, learning and growing with other leaders. In April we’re going as a DTS to Cardiff, Wales to join in on the DTS gathering there which will have a focus of evangelism. We’re also planning on going to Wrexham, Wales to have a lecture week with the DTS there. Watch this space for more news on how these events went!

Local Church and Unity

During my DTS I realised that I had a passion for local church. After I graduated in summer 2007 I went for almost a year without being rooted in a local church and this made me realise how much I missed it and how much it enriched my life! I don’t believe that local church is perfect or that we always get it right, but I do see it as an important place for fellow believers to get together in the name of the Lord; to share testimonies and triumphs, to cry and commiserate, to pray and praise, to love and learn… together!

In York we have so many amazing local churches, it makes it hard to choose which one to go to, but it’s a cool problem to have! The other thing I love about York is that there is great unity among many of the churches here, this makes it possible to come together to work on large projects to bless the city eg Street Angels, Summer Soul, Healing on the Streets etc. Every Wednesday morning the church leaders come together to pray for the city, the authorities and each other, this is powerful stuff!
