Leadership development is part of our DNA in YWAM York. We recognise that in order for us to reach and disciple all the nations we need to invest in to the next generation of leaders and see them equipped and released to fulfil their destiny and calling.
We have a two year leadership development program that starts in September each year with the next on being 3rd September 2012. To register your interest or for more information please contact us
The program allows you the opportunity to develop as a leader with curriculum to challenge and grow you in your leadership. The first year you will staff our 9 month DTS and complete the University of the Nations course the Basic Leadership School (BLS) providing an excellent context for leadership development and on the job training. This is followed by a second year where together we will develop a personal ministry and leadership development plan providing you with further experience and training. We are excited to be part of making your God given vision a reality!
Basic leadership School (BLS)
The Basic Leadership School is designed to develop the calling and gifts God has placed in you by giving you teaching and a chance to step out in your gifts. You get daily input and opportunity to facilitate and serve the Discipleship Training School by leading small groups and evangelism, planning and leading outreach, leading worship and intercession, etc. The BLS provides plenty of opportunity to learn more about who you are and what gifts God has given you. You will be challenged and equipped to step up to a whole new level in life.
Some of the topics covered in the BLS include:
Leading a small group of people
Team leadership, how to minister in healing and prayer.Leading worship, intercession, small groups and bible study. Confrontation and conflict resolution. Leading evangelism. Discipleship.
Management and Organisation
Leadership styles, delegation, goal setting and project planning, time management, finances and budgeting.
General leadership
Character of a leader, communication, making vision a reality, weaknesses of a leader: money, sex and power, world missions, handling stress.
Outreach
Leading an outreach, building team, planning and budgeting, cross cultural preparation, setting and evaluating goals.
As we place a high value on seeing God bring transformation in the lives of those in our city each trainee will be involved in leading one or two of our many local outreach options. This includes but is not limited to working with university and international students, youth, children, in schools, the homeless, families, socially disadvantaged, Street Angels and healing on the streets.
If you have a specific vision for ministry then during this time you will be able to develop skills and strategy to work towards making it a reality in the near future.
